Towards a Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan
15 December 2009

Mourne Heritage Trust would like to invite you to have a read over the consultation draft for discussion and comment.  Please click on link below.

Towards a Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan.

The objectives and resulting proposed actions, summarised in a table at the end of the document (Action Plan, page 39) reflect comments made during previous discussions with a wide range of interest groups, communities, statutory bodies, businesses and other organisations and individuals who care about and have an interest in the AONB. These comments, as well as the data gathered during the production of the State of the Mourne AONB were instrumental in informing the action plan. These proposed actions are suggestions designed to cover the range of issues and opportunities, as comprehensively as possible, and therefore prompt suggestions and thinking as to how they many be addressed.

Some of the indicative actions will be subject of further discussion and development with specific relevant stakeholders, with this in mind it is important to highlight that some of the actions may be discarded and other added, depending on resources available and/or priorities within each of these organisations.

It is worth noting that the lead role and involvement of the stakeholders included in the action plan cannot be assumed, nor that the action has been agreed by all parties. The purpose of this draft is to allow these organisations to consider and comment on the suggestions made.

Comments on the appropriateness, realistic success and priority of the suggested actions are welcomed as are any additional or alternative actions you consider necessary.

Outcomes of these discussions will be combined with feedback from the consultation to produce a draft final plan for consideration and final agreement by the management plan steering group, on which all of the major stakeholder groups are represented.

Specifically it would be most useful if you could provide feedback on the following:

  1. Are there any other issues the consultation document ‘Towards a Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan’ has missed, but you feel should be addressed?
  2. Are here any other objectives you would like to see addressed in the AONB Management Plan?
  3. Are there actions you do not agree with / would like to alter / wish to propose for the AONB Management Plan?
  4. Have you any query or additional information you would like to address regarding the AONB Management Plan?

For further information please contact Miss Emma Cunningham, AONB Management Plan Officer on 028 4372 4059 or emma.cunningham@mourne.co.uk.

Please submit all consultation responses by 01 February 2010.
