Addressing Litter Problems in the Mournes
9 May 2012

The Mourne Heritage Trust’s Countryside Team has observed what appears to be evidence of an increase in users of the high Mournes collecting rubbish and bringing this down in bags to car parks and amenity sites, from which it can be collected.  The Trust very much welcomes this activity which is of assistance to our small team in dealing with what has been a growing problem.

We would like to express our thanks to people for doing their bit in caring for the Mournes.  Ideally those who use the mountains would ‘Leave No Trace’ and carry home anything they have brought in.

Whether the recent activity is a sign of this message getting through, or other users ensuring that rubbish does not accumulate, it is much appreciated.
